How to manage inventory and material planning

Know what is on hand, what each job costs, and what to reorder before the next round.

Steps

  1. Open Inventory and add products — From Planning → Inventory, add the chemical products you carry and record their unit, container size, cost, and starting count. Product details can also be matched from the product catalog and used when you create an application record.
  2. Set or correct the starting count — Use the starting-count action when you are bringing an existing stockroom into TurfTechAdvisor. Choose the correct unit and enter the physical count. If the unit does not match the product's configured unit, fix the product or count instead of treating gallons, ounces, bags, or containers as interchangeable.
  3. Let completed applications deduct stock — When a chemical application record is saved with an inventory product and quantity, the used amount is reflected in inventory. Review the product, rate, area, and unit before saving so the deduction and application cost are correct. Correct an inventory entry when a physical count or application needs a documented adjustment.
  4. Use Material Catalog for non-chemical costs — Owners can open Material Catalog to save supplier prices for landscaping materials. Keep supplier, unit, and price history together, then select catalog materials when quoting or tracking project costs instead of retyping a price each time.
  5. Forecast demand and create a purchase order — Pro users can open Material Planning to compare on-hand stock with plan and completed-job demand, identify low-stock items, and review reorder recommendations. Create a Purchase Order from Planning when you are ready to place an order, then reconcile the received quantity with inventory.
