Product update history for TurfTechAdvisor — dated feature milestones across scheduling, routing, EPA compliance, invoicing, payroll, crew management, estimates, and payments.
Milestones
- Live spray conditions tool with hourly spray windows (2026-07-20) — The free Should I Spray? tool now gives an instant Good / Marginal / Do Not Spray verdict from live wind, gusts, rain chance, humidity, and temperature for any location. It includes an hour-by-hour strip of today's sprayable windows and the current 2-inch soil temperature, so applicators can time pre-emergents and avoid drift days without guessing.
- Bulk email announcements with merge tokens and targeting (2026-06-28) — Owners can now email all active customers at once for weather delays, seasonal kickoffs, or rate changes. Messages personalize with first-name and company merge tokens, target all active customers, a specific service mix, or a hand-picked list, and track delivery per recipient.
- State pesticide compliance guides for all 50 states (2026-06-10) — Every US state now has a dedicated guide summarizing commercial pesticide recordkeeping rules, license requirements, record-retention windows, and the regulating agency. Guides link straight to the matching compliance features so operators can see exactly how their state's requirements are covered.
- Season-long mowing schedule generation (2026-05-22) — Mowing crews can put each customer on a weekly, biweekly, or custom cut cycle and generate every visit for the entire season in one click. A bulk-enroll view with a color-coded day map assigns many customers to weekdays at once, and drag-and-drop rain-day rescheduling keeps the recurring cycle intact.
- Square in-field card reader payments — currently unavailable (2026-05-05) — Historical launch: Square reader payments were introduced for the field app. Square payments are currently unavailable platform-wide, including previously connected readers. No return date is announced. Use Stripe Connect online invoice payments or manually record check and cash payments instead.
- Free calculators: pricing, fertilizer rate, and mowing time (2026-04-18) — Three free, no-signup calculators help pros quote and plan: a tiered lawn care pricing calculator with a minimum stop charge, a fertilizer rate calculator that converts N–P–K analysis into exact bag rates, and a mowing time calculator that turns deck width, speed, and property complexity into an honest time and price estimate.
- Automated billing reminders and late fees (2026-04-02) — Past-due invoices now chase themselves. An automated reminder ladder emails customers on a schedule you control, can apply late fees or service holds, and monthly statements keep recurring accounts current — so owners collect more without manually hounding anyone.
- Payroll with FLSA overtime true-up and paystub PDFs (2026-03-15) — Payroll now builds pay directly from the hours crews clock in the field: gross wages, bonuses, commissions, piece-rate, and PTO, with the FLSA 29 CFR §778 regular-rate overtime true-up applied correctly. Federal income tax uses each employee's W-4 with FICA handled in the right order, and finalized runs produce per-employee paystub PDFs with year-to-date totals.
- PTO accrual policies and time-off tracking (2026-03-01) — Set a PTO accrual policy per employee and approved time-off requests debit the balance automatically. Crew members can see their own PTO balance, and approved time off flows into the pay period without spreadsheet math.
- Landscape material inventory with demand forecasting (2026-02-14) — Track mulch, stone, sod, pine straw, and other bulk materials with container sizes and fill-level indicators. Low-stock alerts and reorder reminders fire before a job site runs short, and demand forecasting rolls upcoming jobs into how much material to order.
- Pre-application customer notices (2026-01-28) — Customers can automatically receive a pre-application email before a chemical treatment. Notices default to auto-on for states like California and New York that require advance notice, with missing-record tracking so no required notification slips through.
- Customer portal with Pay Now and online quote acceptance (2026-01-10) — Customers get secure self-serve access with a magic link or password: they view visit and service history, read crew notes and photos, pay open invoices online with a Pay Now button, and accept quotes without a phone call. Application-record details are sanitized so customers see the work, not internal operational data.
- Live dispatch board with GPS crew tracking (2025-12-15) — Owners see every crew live on a dispatch map with each crew's current job, status, and stops completed. Arrival and departure times log automatically from GPS, and a stop can be dragged to another crew in real time when a job runs long or a truck breaks down.
- Geofenced clock-in (2025-12-01) — Crew hours can start when the truck reaches the property, not the shop. Geofenced clock-in ties time entries to the job site automatically, keeping payroll hours honest without micromanaging.
- Online quote acceptance with auto-scheduling (2025-11-12) — Customers can accept a shared estimate online, and the accepted work drops straight onto the calendar as a scheduled job — no re-keying. The loop from proposal to booked job to invoice closes without a phone call.
- Tiered and multi-option estimates (2025-10-25) — Quotes can present multiple options — good/better/best program tiers — in a single shareable estimate. Customers pick the tier that fits, and the chosen option carries through to scheduling and billing.
- Production-rate landscape estimator (2025-10-08) — The estimate builder now prices landscape work from industry production rates for labor and materials, showing projected job cost and profit margin before the quote goes out. Completed jobs flow into invoicing, so quoted margin can be compared against actual cost.
- QuickBooks Online sync (2025-09-20) — Customers, items, and invoices push to QuickBooks Online so the books stay in lockstep with the field. Paid statuses reconcile back automatically, ending double entry between the app and accounting.
- Stripe online card payments (2025-09-02) — Invoices now carry a secure online payment link. Customers pay by card from any device and the payment records against the invoice automatically, so getting paid no longer depends on checks in the mail.
- Auto-invoicing on job completion (2025-08-15) — The moment a job is marked complete it can become an invoice automatically, snapshotting the customer's price for that service. Per-visit and flat monthly billing are both supported, so completed work turns into money owed without an evening of paperwork.
- Disease risk advisor (2025-07-28) — A dollar spot risk predictor built on the Smith-Kerns model gives real-time disease pressure for any location from local weather. Pros can time preventative fungicide applications to actual risk instead of the calendar.
- Label-rate validation on application records (2025-07-10) — Entered application rates are validated against the product label's allowed range, and out-of-range rates are flagged before the record is saved. Mistakes get caught at the point of entry instead of at inspection time.
- Barcode product lookup (2025-06-22) — Applicators can scan a product barcode to pull it up instantly when filing a record, with product details and label information tied to real inventory stock. Fast, accurate entry replaces typing product names in the truck.
- FIFRA-compliant chemical application records with audit trail (2025-06-05) — Every chemical application captures the product, EPA registration number, rate, target pest, applicator and license, GPS location, and weather on a single field-friendly form. Every later edit is audited with who, what, and when — a defensible amendment trail — and records export to inspector-ready PDF/CSV, including a California Annual Use Report rollup.
- Crew mobile dashboard with photos and per-job clock (2025-05-18) — Each crew gets a focused mobile dashboard showing the day's stops in route order, with per-job clock in/out and before-and-after photo capture on every visit. The installable app works offline, so crews keep moving when cell service drops.
- Saved, reusable GPS routes (2025-05-02) — Optimized routes can be saved and reloaded week after week for recurring work. New stops slot into the saved order automatically and ordering stays stable across refreshes, so the Tuesday route is the same Tuesday route.
- GPS route optimization with drive-time estimates (2025-04-15) — The day's stops sequence into the most efficient driving order in one click, built on real road drive times rather than straight-line guesses. Routes hand off to Google Maps for turn-by-turn navigation, cutting windshield time and fuel across every crew.
- Drag-and-drop scheduling calendar with recurring visits (2025-04-01) — A drag-and-drop calendar runs treatments, mowing, and one-off projects in day, week, and month views. Recurring schedules place every future visit automatically, jobs drag between days without breaking the cycle, and crews are assigned with color-coding so everyone sees their day at a glance.
