Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to mow a lawn?

It depends on mower deck width, ground speed, lawn size, and how much trimming and obstacle work the property needs. Enter those above and the calculator estimates the time, including a property-complexity adjustment for tighter yards.

How do I turn mowing time into a price?

Multiply the estimated time by your target hourly rate, then make sure the result isn't below your minimum stop charge. This calculator does both automatically so small lawns still clear your floor.

Why does property complexity change the estimate?

Open lawns mow near theoretical speed, but beds, trees, fences, and gates add trimming and maneuvering time. A complex property can take 30–50% longer than a simple one of the same size, so the complexity setting adjusts both time and price.

What mowing speed should I enter?

Use a realistic working speed, not top speed — most walk-behind and stand-on mowing happens around 3–5 mph once you account for turns and overlap. If you're unsure, start mid-range and adjust after timing a few real lawns.
